One of our children confessed to throwing twigs, grass, but not rocks down the pipe to the water shut off in the front yard. What this means is that we could not get the water to the sprinkler system turned on because the debris was blocking the way. We tried a few things and finally someone said to use a shop vac. We borrowed one from our neighbors and sure enough, up came 1 rock. There was still one visible at the bottom but the vac could not suck it. After quite some time, Ward put tape on the end of the hose and viola here it came. But hold on there were more rocks. After about an hour or so, we managed to pull up a total of 4 small rocks and one larger rock along with muck. Moral of the story if your pipe's cap is cracked or missing, be sure to replace it quick.
